June 29-July 20, Vernissage: Friday 29 June at: 18-22 Kubista Joseph lives in Malmö and works as a graphic designer. He has previously had the exhibition It ´ 's Alive as shown in both Malmö and Stockholm. The photo exhibition "The Tallahatchie bridge shows him pictures from a trip in the American South. During the trip, he looks after the place mentioned in Bobbie Gentrys song Ode to Billie Joe from 1967 and finds a mysterious, ödslig and wayward spirit found in the photos.

He writes himself about the exhibition: ever since my brother gave me a cassette with the Danish band Sort Sol when I was 15 years old, I have loved the song Ode to Billie Joe, which was included on the recorded disc. It was only several years later that I realized that there actually was a cover version of American singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry.

Bobbie Gentry had a number-one on the Billboard chart with the song in 1967. A slow, narrative song about life in the country in Mississippi during the 1960s. The family living at the bottom of The Tallahatchie River crossed by The Tallahatchie Bridge. Eeriness happens on the river and the bridge.

It is suspected that someone has jumped from the bridge. Someone even took the life of himself by jumping from the bridge. The various stories and theories about what happened on The Tallahatchie Bridge integrated but we may never know who jumped in the water.

Bobbie Gentry released a few albums, but disappears from the public light at the end of the 1970s. Today nobody knows anything about where she lives, or what she is doing.

Almost two years ago, I stumbled across an article from the magazine Life Magazine from 1967. It is a two-page interview with the then 22-year-old Bobbie Gentry. Ode to Billie Joe tops the list, and we'll meet her in her home area around The Tallahatchie River. At the end of the interview the crossing a bridge in Northwestern Mississippi. Bobbie Gentry point to the bridge and says that just such a bridge in the song.

In the fall of 2011, more than 20 after I had received a cassette tape with Sort Sol, I went to the United States and Mississippi to find this bridge.
On Secrecy in Malmö I will set out some photographs taken in connection with the search for The Tallahatchie Bridge.

Well Met!
