The Society of International Affairs in Gothenburg in co-operation with Amnesty International Gothenburg welcomes you to the last film screening of the year! The screening is free and open for everyone.
In connection with the International Human Rights Day we will be screening the documentary Tell Me of the Seas by Iranian director Reza Allamehzadeh about the mass killing of political prisoners in Iran in 1988.
The movie is a tale of two mothers and daughters, one imaginary couple called Roya and Darya, the other real called Azar and Nina, who are sharing a prisoncell. Roya is a young sketch artist who was arrested on the day her exhibit was to open in Tehran. Azar is a young mother incarcerated with her young daughter Nina.
The film’s narrative is a combination of reality and imagination; it uses Roya’s designs of infant Nina’s first steps in prison up to her own appearance before the Death Committee to describe the shocking story of political prisoners killed by Khomeini’s Fatwa in 1988, and buried in unmarked mass graves in Khavaran.
