JADRANKA KOSORCIC (DE)
Blind Date, Malmoe/Copenhagen 2010
Cirkulationscentralen is proud to present the first solo project in Sweden of the Croatian artist Jadranka Kosorcic.
As part of the show Jadranka Kosorcic will draw portraits of visitors in the exhibition space on the opening night and throughout the exhibition. The finished portraits will form the content of the exhibition.
A selection of portraits from her show "Blind Date of Bloomberg employees, London 2009", will also be on display. Through the placement of advertisements in various newspapers and chance meetings, Kosorcic finds sitters with whom she can identify. She is interested in the direct and immediate reproduction of the tension between the artist and the sitter, all of who are unknown to her before the drawing takes place.
Jadranka Kosorcic, living in Berlin, was born in Split/Croatia 1972. She studied fine art from 1993 until 1998 at the art colleges in Nürnberg, Munich and London (1998 MA at Chelsea college of art and design.) Since then she has shown her project "Blind Date" in various group and solo shows in Germany, Austria, England, Croatia and Denmark.
CC on the Wall // MARIA NORRMAN (SE)
Like today, only more so
The drawing “Like today, only more so" is built up with images of buildings from different times, places and future films have been cut, twisted and turned, glued together and drawn on architect paper. The drawing “311 x ca 2000000= a number I cannot pronounce" consists of 311floor plans of apartments sold in Malmö between 2009-2010. The flats are located in the most wanted locations, and like the coded language which the drawing may resemble, it is a comment on gentrification and housing shortage which makes the artist wonder about the future.
Maria Norrman born in 1987 is currently completing her BFA at the Malmö Art Academy. Her work explores the hidden qualities in everyday objects, our hopes/fears for the future and investigates forgotten historic ev ents and persons. She works mainly with video, photo, collage and drawing.
