Muslim migration and the debate of European multiculturalism.
UF Malmö warmly welcomes Mr. Torsten Janson, Director of studies and senior researcher at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University. He has his background in Islamic studies and has taught extensively at Lund University, Malmö University Teacher's Education and Halmstad University. His main research interests include: Muslim European minorities, religious identity among children and youth, Islamic visual culture, Educational reform in the Middle East, with a focus on Lebanon.
In Mr Janson’s lecture he will focus on:
• A brief background on Euro-Muslim minorities (with examples from Britain and Sweden)
• Key concerns of the Euro-Muslim communities
• Anti-Muslim tendencies and islamophobia
• Citizenship, integration and public responsibility in multicultural society
