Lecture: Political Stability and State-Society Relations in Post-Soviet Central Asia - Rustamjon Urinboyev
UF Malmö warmly welcomes Rustamjon Urinboyev, who will discuss the numerous political stability and security challenges that Central Asian countries are facing during the post-Soviet period. Rustamjon will address the interlinkage between informal welfare structures and political stability through a case study of the Ferghana Valley in Uzbekistan.
Rustamjon is a research fellow at Lund University, in the Department of Sociology of Law, where he completed his Ph.D.
Rustamjon has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in post-Soviet Uzbekistan, Central Asia, where his doctoral thesis examined the interlinkages between welfare and political stability. His current research examines legal cultures in post-Soviet societies, with particular emphasis on Uzbekistan and Russia and the roles of informal structures and rules in shaping post-Soviet transition there.
